I finally visited The Broad last week and let me tell you, I was so impressed.
Philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad built the new contemporary art museum, which is home to nearly 2,000 works of art and holds one of the most prominent collections of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. The museum is designed by the architecture firm DS+R in collaboration with Gensler and offers free general admission.

I had to visit the museum twice due to limited capacity to see Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room. Hence if you want to see this masterpiece you need to be there at the opening hour to secure a spot. I think the long wait is so worth it as this mirror-lined chamber is one of a kind experience. The room is dazzled with endless LED lights on display and accommodates one visitor at a time for approximately 45 seconds. I truly never experienced such a shiny, happy 45 seconds in my life.

Make sure you visit Ragnar Kjartansson’s performance room “The Visitors” on the main floor. The music is beautiful and all artists have done an incredible job. You come out feeling calm and mesmerized.

After the tour of the museum head over to Otium Restaurant located on the plaza, right behind The Broad. It is a modern American Eatery that draws from the rich culinary heritage of Chef Timothy Hollingsworth. It is designed to be a social restaurant with an open kitchen merging indoor and outdoor spaces.

What I loved was their tapas style menu and the use of sustainable ingredients from the garden of the restaurant’s mezzanine. The Hamachi, Kale and Tri-Tip are a must, however the sweet items are not as great.

I am definitely going back to both places!

Loved this post! Thanks for the share ! Can’t wait to visit ??
