Mykonos Travel Guide

Posted in Travel

I can’t say enough good things about Mykonos. It has everything you could possibly want for a fun, yet relaxing vacation. The charm starts with Mykonos town where you walk on beautiful grey tiles. It has many nice restaurants to choose from (see below for my recommendations), and the party scene is unbelievable. It is also surrounded by beautiful beaches to unwind or get your groove on depending on your mood.

Mykonos-1

Mykonos-2

We stayed at the Kouros Boutique Hotel which was walking distance to Mykonos town. Their location is amazing and it has breathtaking views of the ocean. Their staff is very friendly and helpful, who make you feel right at home. Our room was DELUXE SUITE WITH PRIVATE POOL which was so hard to leave.

I do recommend to stay close to town so you don’t have to worry about renting a car or finding a taxi. Keep in mind that Mykonos town is only allowed to pedestrians and no cars. Renting a scooter is a fun way to see the rest of Mykonos town, specially their beaches.

I am a foodie so dining out was a great adventure for us.

Creative Mini Moussaka at Kalita
Creative Mini Moussaka at Kalita

Our first night, we went to Kalita which was excellent. It is a hidden backyard in Mykonos town, with outdoor sitting and a warm staff. The cuisine is Greek with a modern twist on it, their mini moussaka and black cod is a must.

Interni is a to go spot if you want to see and be seen. The outdoor restaurant has a very intimate feel to it with the bar in the center. Their cocktails are the best which makes it the perfect place to start your night with.

Kiki’s Terrace
Kiki’s Terrace

When I travel, I always like to go to places where locals go and if you are like me, go to Kiki’s for lunch. It is located in Agios Sostis so a transfer must be arranged. The tree shaped terrace is a hidden gem, overlooking the beach. A taverna with no signs, no phone number and always packed. So prepare to wait if visiting during busy hours. To make a good use of your time you can use the private beach below the restaurant where the colors of the ocean is unreal and unseen. Their menu is very simple and consists of home made Greek salads, fish of the day and barbecue meats.

If you are craving sushi and want upscale dining try Nobu Matsuhisa inside of Belvedere Hotel. It is owned by the legendary chef Nobu so you will not be disappointed. His dishes are superb with South American and Western influences.

Nammos Beach Cafe

Last but not least Nammos is the place to be by the beach. It is one of the hottest tables on Psarou beach where it draws celebrities and fashionistas of Mykonos locale. The sand beach cafe is relaxation by the sea and the five star restaurant is pure excellence with sunset views. The beach club is for the party scene where the DJ is playing dance music and champagne is overflowing by beautiful hostesses.

Look out for my Santorini post next!
