Matcha Craziness

Posted in Lifestyle

Seems like Matcha is the new Kale and everyone is drinking it these days.

I personally like to research everything, especially things that get hyped up; I like to make sure they are actually beneficial and I have found that Matcha has many health benefits.

Matcha Green Tea is the highest quality powdered green tea available in Japan. Matcha comes from a grown leaf called tencha. The tea bushes are kept away from direct sunlight to preserve their green color and antioxidant properties.

This drink is multi packed with vitamins such as vitamin A, B-complex, C, E and K. One of its most important antioxidants is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg). EGCg is the most widely known for its cancer fighting goods. Scientists have found that Matcha Green Tea contains over 100 times more EGCg than any other tea on the market.

It boosts your metabolism, which helps you to burn more calories. It is almost calorie free and does not raise blood pressure or heart rate. This makes a safe alternative for mid-day snacks with no proven side effects.Matcha detoxes your body naturally and calms your mind. Its distinctive caffeine, theophylline enhances your energy level. It also protects you from infections due to its EGCg.

However, you need to be careful when drinking Matcha in restaurants and cafes. Matcha has a very strong taste so many places add too much sweetener or powdered milk to make it taste better. Always ask what they put in it and try to lower the add-ons as much as possible. Also if you are buying the powder to make it at home, be aware of the price. High quality, pure Matcha is pricy, therefore the lower price tag can mean a poor quality product.

Hope you enjoy your Matcha as much as I do and Happy Thanksgiving!
