This time of the year is my favorite time. Its holiday season and everyone is in a jolly mood. Lights are shining, shops and streets are decorated and Christmas music is playing everywhere.
Everybody is looking for gifts and the best outfit to wear to sparkle for the New Year. I think lips are a major factor in pulling your look together and we all know a good red lipstick can dazzle anyone. You can barely wear any make up but still look incredible with the perfect red on your lips.
There are so many shades of red in every store and every brand has a few that catches your eye but its not as easy as it looks to find your best match. At least, it wasn’t for me. I have light tanned skin and not every red matches my features. Also not every color of red looks exactly the same on you as you see it.
For a few years I have been using the color Black Wine from Estée Lauder but unfortunately they don’t make it anymore so I have been on a mission to find the next best thing. I think I have tried at least 20 different lipsticks from all the brands and eventually found three that I am in love with.
I wanted one very close to Black Wine, which is a very deep red, close to burgundy and MAC has nailed it with DIVA. It is from their matte collection and stays on lips for hours. Hence if you are going for dark lips this is what you need to buy.
For a second look, I wanted a true red, like the perfect tomato red. As I was walking in Nordstrom I got amazed by the Charlotte Tilbury counter, which I am sure you guys have heard of. She is a celebrity make up artist and has done everyone’s make up from Cara Delevingne to Naomi Campbell and she is too good at what she does. After couple of tries I uncovered the ideal red from her KISSING line. The color is called So Marilyn and it is so soft on the lips and is enriched with the antioxidant Lipstick Tree, a breakthrough, secret ingredient that naturally protects lips from UV damage. This is a capsule color wardrobe and goes with every look.
Lastly, I wanted a rosy red. I got my maroon, I got my flushed red and something with dark pink would complete my holiday looks. I found just what I wanted from Marc Jacobs; from the Le Marc Lip Crème line and the shade is called So Rouge. This lipstick is vibrant and has a creamy, buttery feel to it, which makes your lips, hydrated all day and night.
